Every June, the second the final school bell rings, our crew of 4 mothers and 4 daughters drops everything, hits the highway, and leaves the grid behind. Our destination: deep into the rugged granite basin of the Sierra Nevada.
What started six years ago as a modest trek when our girls were just 11 years old has blossomed into a sacred, non-negotiable end-of-the-school-year migration. “Our trails have shortened a bit over the seasons to allow for maximum water time!” points out Ailee.

Because our daughters attend different schools across the region and navigate increasingly hectic teenage lives, this weekend stands as our unshakeable anchor.
