I purchased these late winter, so I have not been able to use them in all situations, but… I have used them for hiking, snowshoeing and general outdoor activities. Will try them out xc skiing next year. So far, they are keeping me nice and warm. As to size and fit, I am typically a small and find these are no exception. I did order a petite as they could not be hemmed with the leg zipper. Good thing, as they are the perfect length. Very well made. I will order more next year when they are back in stock.

I purchased a L to be able to layer, since I was planning to use them for winter hiking/backpacking. Plenty of room in the L. They are just the right combination of softness and shape. Unfortunately, after only 4 hours of backpacking, the material over the low back was already piling even though I was wearing a jacket and my backpack belt was padded. I can only assume the same thing will happen to all areas of friction, which considerably limits the use of these pants!
